History

The Trinity College Swimming Pool opened on the 16th of November 1985 during the time of Principal Rev. D.G. Wickramasinghe in a very grand fashion, and has gone from strength to strength from the day it was first used.

“I believe Trinity College was one of the first schools to have a Swimming Pool of some sort many years ago. The present one, however, is in a different class and reaches up to the required standards of what a swimming pool ought to be”

Many swimmers who have brought glory to Sri Lanka at the international stage have taken their first strokes at the Trinity College Pool. The most recent and most successful being Heshan Unamboowe (Captain 2010, Lion, Olympian).

The Trinity College Swimming Pool celebrated its 25th year anniversary in 2010, the then Swimming Team led by Heshan Unamboowe organized a swimming meet to celebrate the milestone.
