As the newly appointed committee of the Islamic Students’ Movement (ISM) of Trinity College Kandy for 2025 began their term, they marked the start of their journey towards the much-anticipated Annual General Meeting (AGM-ISM 2025) with the successful organisation of the ISM Intra-School Competitions. Hosted on the 4th of July 2025 at Trinity College, this event served as the committee’s first major initiative — setting the tone for a purposeful and energetic year ahead.
Aimed at students from Grades 6 to 13, the competition saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 students, making it not only a resounding success but also a promising beginning for the new committee. The competitions were divided into three categories:
- Junior (Grades 6 to 8)
- Intermediate (Grades 9 to 11)
- Senior (Grades 12 and 13)
The event featured a wide range of categories, including Oratory, Essay Writing, Adhaan, Qira’ath Recitation, Poetry, Dialogue Writing, Short Story Writing, Calligraphy, Poster Designing, and a brand-new competition introduced this year — Hiflul Qur’an. To promote inclusivity, all speaking and writing events were conducted in English, Sinhala, and Tamil.
The judging panel was graced by Mu’allims and distinguished Old Boys of Trinity College Kandy, who brought their experience and insight to the process. A heartfelt thank you goes to Mr Ammar Zaffarullah, Mr Imaadh Zubair, Mr Amhar Anver, and Mr Mohammed Shamil for their time and support as judges. Special appreciation is also extended to our Master-in-Charge, Mrs Farzan, and the Director of the Co-Curricular Sector, Mr Wasana Dissanayake, whose invaluable support and guidance played a key role in making the event a grand success.
Warm congratulations to the ISM Committee of 2025 for organising such a meaningful, vibrant, and well-coordinated event. The committee has set a high standard, and we look forward to witnessing the next major step — the ISM Inter-School Competitions of Trinity College Kandy, scheduled to take place on 20th September 2025.
