New Year 2026 – Message from the Principal

Dear Students, Parents, Staff, Old Boys and Well-Wishers of the Trinity Community,

As we step into 2026, I extend my warmest New Year greetings to each of you and your families. The closing weeks of 2025 brought profound challenges to our nation, with devastating floods and landslides affecting countless lives across Sri Lanka. Our thoughts and prayers remain with all those who have suffered loss and displacement during this difficult time. As a Trinity community, we stand united in empathy and support for those working to rebuild their lives and livelihoods. I encourage our students and families to continue demonstrating the compassion and solidarity that defines our spirit as we move forward together.

As we prepare to welcome our students back to campus, I wish to bring to your attention several important matters that will shape our journey through the year ahead. From 5th January 2026, Trinity College will implement a complete ban on mobile phones within the school premises. This policy has been introduced to enhance the learning environment, encourage meaningful peer interactions, and promote the holistic development of our students. We earnestly request the full support and cooperation of all parents in upholding this important initiative, which we believe will significantly benefit our young people. Further, we implore your sustained diligence on your child’s life at school.

The academic calendar will experience intermittent adjustments due to public examinations scheduled throughout the year. During these necessary breaks, we seek the active engagement of parents in maintaining academic momentum at home, ensuring that our students remain focused and motivated in their studies. Your partnership in this endeavor is invaluable to us. I also invite all parents to familiarize themselves closely with the College Year Plan 2026 (https://trinitycollege.lk/calendar/), which outlines the complete schedule of academic terms, examinations, co-curricular activities, sports activities and important events. Your awareness of these dates will enable better planning and fuller participation in your child’s Trinity Journey: academic – skills – character.

We eagerly anticipate welcoming our children back to Trinity and embarking together on another year of learning, growth, and achievement. May 2026 bring renewed hope, strength, and success to our entire Trinity family. Respice Finem.

With warm regards and blessings,
Very Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara (Prior OSB)
