INTER- SCHOOL ASTRONOMY
QUIZ COMPETITION

“Curiositas” is the Astronomical Society of Trinity College's invitation to all quizmasters to participate in an all-island battle of astronomical knowledge. This competition will be comprised of two tiers namely, the virtual preliminary round and the all out finale that will witness the top 10 teams battling it out for the crown. Are you up for the challenge?

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

  • The quiz is open to island wide schools.

  • Each School can register two teams for the quiz.

  • Each team must consist of 5 members.

  • All team members must be less than 19 years of age on the 1st January 2023

  • The organizing committee will communicate with the quiz team through the quiz team leader.

  • The Quiz will be conducted in English and Sinhala Languages.

The competition will consist of two rounds:

  • The selection round will be held on the 10th of June 2023 via an online quiz platform.
  • The 5 team members of the quiz team will be assigned to each of the five categories of Astronomy

Astrophysics

Cosmology

General Astronomy

Observational Astronomy

Rocketry

  • Each member will be sent a separate quiz paper with a unique ID; thus two students are not allowed to login to the same paper.
  • The quiz is open for a set time, and will automatically submit once the time is expired
  • Participants may video conference with each other during the Quiz.
  • More information will be provided later.
  • The top 10 best performing teams in the selection round will be invited to the Trinity College Astronomical Night for the Final Round.
  • The winners will be announced a week after the selection round.
  • More information on the Final Round will be provided later.
