My Dear Friends,
I am delighted to bring greetings as your Metropolitan of the Church of Ceylon and from the worldwide Anglican Communion, for the centenary celebrations of your unique chapel.
This chapel without walls – which reflects the indigenous architecture of Sri Lanka – has been spiritually nourishing many generations of students at Trinity College in Kandy, who belong to various cultures, ethnicities and religions.
This place of worship in the heart of the College has been a binding factor between Christianity and Sri Lankan culture in the sacred city of Kandy.
The respect you’ve earned nationally and internationally as a school, which has promoted harmony and understanding with the spirituality of this chapel, is indeed an example for others to imitate.
I also want to congratulate Trinity College Kandy for serving the Sri Lankan nation for 150 years as a prominent academic institution, rooted in the good news of Jesus Christ. And the chapel has played a great part in this.
May God bless you in your celebration. And may he bless you in your continuing ministry to the people of Sri Lanka.
May Sri Lanka be delivered from these times of economic struggle and hardship. And in common with the rest of the world, may we find stability, strength and love for one another which enables every human being to flourish.
Amen.
