Welcoming Our Principal Designate Trinity College was pleased to welcome Mr. Dayan D. L. Fernando, Principal Designate, to the College Management Team today. During his introductory meeting with the Heads of Departments and Divisions, Mr. Fernando was briefed on the College's work, progress, and future priorities, while engaging in discussions on the shared vision for Trinity's continued growth. Seventy-eight years ago, Duncan White gave Ceylon a moment that would be remembered for generations! On 31 July 1948, the Trinitian sprinted into history at the London Olympic Games, winning Ceylon's first ever Olympic medal with a silver in the 400 m hurdles. His remarkable achievement came just months after the nation gained independence, becoming a symbol of determination, perseverance, and sporting excellence. Today, his Olympic silver medal is preserved in the Trinity College Kandy Archives, serving as a lasting reminder of a legacy that continues to inspire generations of Trinitians and Sri Lankans alike.
