We are pleased and honored to announce that at the 14th edition of Bestweb.lk, Sri Lanka’s premier web design competition organised by the LK Domain Registry, the website of Trinity College Kandy (trinitycollege.lk) received two prestigious awards: “The Most Popular School Website” and “Best Mobile User Experience School Website” in the school category, surpassing 20 other school websites. Winning two awards in our debut at this competition is a remarkable accomplishment for the school.
Bestweb.lk, organized annually by the LK Domain Registry, saw over 500 applications across 22 categories in its 14th edition. Established in 2009 by Professor Gihan Dias, the Registry has played a pivotal role in advancing Sri Lanka’s digital landscape. Professor Dias was honoured with an induction into the Internet Hall of Fame in 2013 for his pioneering contributions to the development of the Internet in Sri Lanka.
Following the initiation of the first stage of the competition, Trinity, along with three other school websites (madaoyavidyalaya.lk, princeofwales.edu.lk, and lyceum.lk), was nominated for the Gold, Silver, Bronze, Most Popular Website, and Best Mobile User Experience Website awards. At the official award ceremony, held on August 14th at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo, Trinity won the two awards mentioned. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Lyceum International School for winning Gold as the Best School Website, Prince of Wales College for securing Silver, and Medaoyavidyalaya.lk for achieving Bronze.
The Chief Guest for the evening, Mr. Sudarshana Gunawardana, a proud old Trinitian, expressed his pride in his alma mater as the College achieved this significant victory.
The Trinity College Kandy website was officially launched in 2016. Over the years, it has published 1,240 articles and reviews and showcased more than 35,929 photos covering various academic, extracurricular, and sports events. According to the website’s analytics, we have observed a 199.7% increase in traffic, with over 64,000 visitors coming to the site monthly. Additionally, we are active on more than nine social & media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, WhatsApp, SoundCloud, and Threads, further extending our reach and engagement with the Students, Parents, Staff and the Old boys.
We humbly believe that Trinity will continue to uphold its high standards of information within the communications field and further enhance its digital presence. The PROMWEB (the umbrella collaboration framework responsible for promotions, media, and website activities) remains dedicated to maintaining the quality and relevance of our online resources, ensuring that Trinity College Kandy continues to be a beacon of excellence in the digital landscape.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our staff coordinators (Mr. Shevantha De Silva, Mr. Thilina Warnakulasooriya, Mrs. Sulekshmie Bambaradeniya, Ms. Kushmini Wijesundara, Mr. Hirantha Madurasinghe), as well as the student writers and photographers (TCMU) of PROMWEB. Their continuous contributions have been instrumental in the success and quality of our website.
