Middle School

The Middle School consists of Grades 6 to 9, with each Grade having 8 parallel classes.

The four years each child spends in the Middle School are a significant part of a his school career.

We believe that all students can learn to be socially, emotionally, physically and academically successful. We also strive to promote a healthy diversity so that interaction among students is positive and respectful, thereby giving all students equal opportunities.

We believe in moulding the students to take up leadership, develop self-esteem, confidence, critical thinking and problem- solving skills through a diverse range of clubs and societies during these years.

Sports being an essential constituent of a child’s growth and development, each student is encouraged to take part in at least two.

With a holistic approach to education, we forge on in encouraging students to be self-directing as they advance from childhood to adolescence.

The Middle School Science Exhibition which was held on the 13th and 14th  of October 2022 paved the way for the young scientists of Grade 6,7,8 and 9 to showcase their eye-catching exhibits. These marvelous projects and exhibits were viewed by the Principal Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara OSB along with the Co- Vice Principal, Mr. Marasinghe and the Head-mistress, Mrs. Krishni George. Among as many as 50 inventive and creative projects, the obstacle sensing cars, remote control cars and planes, models of wind power stations, hydro power stations, solar stations, the laser burglar alarm and the thermal solution stood out. A very interesting and educating demonstration and fun facts about cockroaches with live specimens also was a highlight of this event. The enthusiasm and excitement shown by the students from Grade 6 to 9 when they were given a chance to visit the exhibition and educate themselves showed how successful this event was. We thank all the students who worked really hard to make this event a success and the Middle School Science Faculty which organized this event under the guidance of Faculty head of Science Mrs. Nimesha Wimalasena. Middle School Children’s Day 2022

Across its proud and now 150-year old history, Trinity college Kandy has had many successful Children’s days down the memory lane, Without any qualms – 2022 was a huge success. It all started with a special assembly in the main hall, with several aesthetic performances by our award-winning choristers and the eastern music orchestra. The Carnatic music instrument players and Dancers also had unprecedented success, it will be dishonourable not to mention the absolutely stellar songs that were sung by the teachers, where the ovation was ear-splitting. After returning to our classes, it was time for the organizing committees which were appointed by our teachers earlier to show their colours, unearthing some talent with the talent shows they had organized and giving us unmatched fun with the vibrant songs and games. Even during these tough times everyone contributed with food and treats as they can, it was a fine example of how much We care about each other. School officers should receive an amount of credit for their efforts toward making the Middle school children happy, they worked extremely hard to make the rugby tournament a sparkling success. During the matches all the spectators were involved in the matches as they were chanting for the glory of their friends. The most exhilarating event however was a very well-organized musical show by our teachers, some songs made us very emotional, songs which were about our family members and our teachers, However the show didn’t stop there. More modern and “Pop songs” were definitely performances which we couldn’t enjoy while being seated. In its sesquicentennial year for this prestigious school, Trinity college Kandy lived to its reputation by hosting a fun and entertaining children’s day. The Inter House Rugby Tournament for the Junior Categories was held on the 2nd of April 2022 at the Trinity College Rugby Ground in Pallekele. These matches helped the coaches scout for upcoming young talents among the 300 students who took part in the tournament. The tournament was held under three age categories, namely, Under 12 Under 14 Under 16 The matches commenced in the morning with the boys showing great enthusiasm and talent on the field. Each game was critical for all houses, as a win would put them above the rest on the points table and give them a higher chance of winning the tournament. But with the afternoon approaching, the sky above the Pallekele stadium turned dark and gloomy. Soon there was a downpour; and the officials decided to cancel a couple of matches and awarded the winners based on the points gained by the houses at the time the tournament was called off. The winners of the tournament were as follows: Under 12- Pilcher House Under 14 – Sahayam House Under 16 – Central Boarding House Review by Abidh Jameel
