4th of February every year is a very important day for all the Sri Lankans as we proudly celebrate Independence Day.
All the students from Junior School participated in the events and programmes of the Independence Day celebration as one family though they belong to various nationalities, religions, cultures and traditions.
On 5th February 2019 to celebrate 71st independence day of Sri Lanka, we planned to commemorate all the great heroes, who fought for freedom.
To begin the programme, the National flag was hoisted by the Co-Vice Principal while we sang the National Anthem in the quadrangle. Afterwards, we performed a stage drama about Keppetipola Disawe who was a leader of the Uva rebellion of 1818.
A video clip educated us about the struggles for freedom in our recent history. We realized that gaining freedom would not have been possible without the heroes who had fought very worked hard against the British rule.
Finally, the Oriental Music group along with other students sang many patriotic songs to the music.
On this day as Sri Lankans we felt very proud and pledge to be loyal and patriotic to our motherland whole heartedly.
