Trinity’s first Prime Minister’s scout – Thejan Pitadeniya

We are delighted to announce that Master Thejan Pitadeniya has been awarded as Trinity’s first Prime Minister’s scout. Thejan was honoured in the presence of Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, at a ceremony held at the Christ Church College in Matale on February 22, 2023.

The Prime Minister’s Scout Award is significant because it is second only to the President’s Scout Award in terms of prestige among the awards bestowed by the Sri Lanka Scouts Association. Thejan was given this award after being selected through an interview conducted by the Kandy District Scout Association.

In 2018, Theian joined the 17th Kandy Trinity College Senior Scout troop. As he attended the 2018 junior scout training camp at the Pallekale rugby stadium, he was invested as a junior scout. In 2019, Thejan was accepted into the senior scout troop. He went on numerous camping trips and other outdoor adventures. In 2019, he was recognised as a scout master, and in 2020, he was recognised as a group scout master and as a district commissioner. As a result of his dedication and perseverance, he became the first Prime Minister scout in Trinity’s annals. The 17th Kandy Trinity scouting mission was greatly aided by his efforts.

The members of the Trinity community, along with the 17th Kandy Trinity College Senior Scout troop, would like to extend their heartfelt congratulations to Thejan on this tremendous accomplishment and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
