In a remarkable initiative, the Ornithology Club joined forces with the Young Zoologists Club to undertake a project aimed at enhancing bird nesting sites in TELA. The project was officially launched on June 5th, 2023, showcasing the commitment to conserving avian habitats.
The methodology employed for this project involved strategically installing nest boxes at designated locations, ensuring they were positioned at a height greater than 5 meters from the ground. A total of 8 nest boxes were carefully installed across the selected sites, with meticulous attention given to each placement.
After a month of anticipation, the first observation was conducted on July 5th, revealing promising results. Three of the installed nest boxes were found to be in active condition. This conclusion was drawn from the presence of white faecal matter near the entrance of these boxes, as well as direct sightings of birds entering and exiting the structures.
This development highlights the positive impact of the project, as it demonstrates the successful creation of suitable nesting environments for the avian population in TELA. The collaboration between the Ornithology Club and the Young Zoologists Club has proven fruitful, showcasing the potential for effective conservation efforts when diverse expertise and passion come together.
