Master. Kashyapa Mahasen Randunna, became the youngest Sri Lankan and the first Trinitian to receive the coveted Golden Charity Knight Award. This honour recognizes his outstanding contributions to charity and social service. Special mention should be made of Mrs Samanthi Wijitha Kumari, Master Randunna’s mother who played a significant role in coordinating activities.
Kashyapa has been an advocate for a variety of social and charitable causes, exhibiting strong commitment to improving the lives of those in need. The considerable work carried out under his coordination was recognized at the National Entrepreneur Excellence Presidential Awards 2024, where the family’s efforts received Platinum, Special, and Gold awards in the Asian area.
Kashyapa’s commitment is recognized across national bounds as well. His contributions over the years were brought to the attention of the Presidential Special Projects’ team, who nominated him for the prestigious Golden Honorary Charity Knight Award 2023. The Harbet Harrly Family Knight Organisation in the United Kingdom approved Kashyapa’s nomination and bestowed upon him the honourable title as Charity Knight. The award ceremony took place on September 29, 2023, at the Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya, and it was a proud moment for both Kashyapa, his family, as well as Trinity College.
This achievement underlines the value of selfless committment to the community, and the influence that young people can have on society. Master Kashyapa continues to mentor and inspire many young Trinitians, as he climbs higher on his ladder to success. As well as Kashyapa himself, sincere gratitude must be extended towards his family, especially his mother, Samanthi Wijitha Kumari, whose unwavering support was crucial for this achievement
