From The Principal

To all Members of the Old Trinitians Rugby Scrummage:
The OTRS committee has, without any prior intimation, by a letter addressed to me dated 9th May 2018, relinquished all their obligations towards Rugby at Trinity College Kandy effective 11/5/2018. This is effectively a letter of resignation.
As the Patron of OTRS and the Principal of Trinity College Kandy, I am duty bound to protect the interests of the school and in particular rugby at Trinity. Therefore, to avoid further disruption of the sport at Trinity, I hereby appoint the following as an Interim Rugby Committee to carry out the duties of the Committee for the balance period of their tenure.
1. D Sivasubramaniam (Acting Chairman)
2. Ajith Abeyratne
3. Ravi Balasuriya
4. Dinesh Nugegoda
5. Amil Ramanadan
6. Murad Ramzeen
As the Senior season is ongoing and the Junior season is just starting, I am compelled to adopt this measure, as Rugby at Trinity (at every level) should be protected at all costs.
The OTRS constitution does not specify what the Patron is expected to do in a situation such as this. However, neither does it state that this measure cannot be adopted. So, having taken advice, I am doing this in the best interests of Trinity.
I must also add that there is an urgent need to have a comprehensive and updated Constitution for the OTRS, which can and should cater to suit the present day requirements. I would urge the Interim Committee to have such in place before the end of their term and present it formally at the next AGM. This is provisionally scheduled to take place in Colombo on Saturday June 23rd 2018, at which time the new Committee will be elected. I warmly encourage all members of Scrummage to attend.
