Zonal level All Island Music and Drama Competitions 2018
The Oriental Music Society of Trinity College Kandy participated in zonal level competitions of the All Island Music and Drama Competitions 2018, on 5th of May at Swarnamali Girls’ College Kandy. The competition was organized by the Ministry of Education.
Our students competed in the following categories: Classical Orchestra, Instrumental Duet and Notation reading. Trinity College was placed 1st in all three categories and were qualified to participate in Provincial level competitions: B.C. Wijesinghe won the 1st place in notation reading category, and B.C. Wijesinghe, S.K. Fernando accompanied by U. Rajarathna and D.T. Jayarathne won the 1st place in Instrumental Duet category.
Provincial Level All Island Music and Drama Competitions 2018
The Provincial competition of the all Island Music and Drama Competitions were held on 9th and 10th June 2018.
The members of the Oriental Music Society participated in three categories and achieved the following results.
- Classical orchestra (raag vasantha mukhari) – 1st place
- Notation reading by B.C. Wijesinghe – 3rd place
- Instrumental duet (raag brindavani saranga) by B.C. Wijesinghe and S.K. Fernando accompanied by U.C. Rajarathne and M.J. Premawardhana – 1st place
