Expanding its vistas of secondary education, Trinity College Kandy introduced the International Advanced Levels (IAL) to its students in 2018. The introduction of the International Advance Levels allows students to achieve globally recognised qualifications aligned with the British educational system. Thus, the IAL acts as a pathway for students to gain admission into some of the world’s most prominent universities for their higher studies.
Since its commencement three years ago, the programme has garnered exceptional results and grown tremendously, facilitating our students to reap its benefits. Owing to its dedication to the pursuit of excellence, Trinity has taken extensive measures to increase the number of subjects offered by the programme. At its inception, the IAL offered a limited number of subjects with a focus on science-led streams. The subjects included Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Economics, Accounting, Business, Pure Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Psychology, ICT and English Literature. However, within a short period with the growing demand for other learning avenues, the College introduced new subjects to its internationally progressive curriculum. Currently the programme offers subjects such as French, Law, History and Geography in addition to the initially mentioned curriculum.
Furthermore, Trinity has taken measures to enhance the college’s IAL staff with qualified teachers who will guide the students through the carefully designed and structured curriculum. The students are steered to achieve all the learning goals required in their preparation for university.
The exceptional performance of students at Trinity College exhibited in the IAL examinations held in October 2020, January and June 2021 is a testament to the comprehensive and cohesive education that is provided by the school. Moreover, it bears witness to the support the school renders to its students to strive to great heights in the field of education.
Due to the speedy progression the Trinity IAL programme has demonstrated, the school has taken an active interest in expanding the IAL unit and the facilities that are offered. Thus, together with the 150th Anniversary celebrations of the college; preparations are being made to further enhance the learning experience of the IAL students. These modifications will encompass introducing experiential learning, more subjects, and new qualification schemes.
In addition to providing a thorough and holistic education, Trinity also offers its students a secure and supportive environment in which they can expand their horizons.
