Reduce, Reuse & Recycle – 22nd Issue of the Grade 1 Weekly Newsletter

This week we bring you a handwork design made by reusing materials. The purpose of this is to give the Grade 1 students an understanding of reusable materials and what can be done with those materials.

The students were guided to make a pencil and pen holder. They were taught through practice how important and practical it is to reuse materials. Grade 1 students created pencils holders that was simple to make and had a nice finish. Various pencil holder designs were made such as owls, rabbits & carrots, cats, tigers and watermelons.

After learning that so much can be done with discarded materials, students talked with their friends about other things that can be used in a similar manner.

“I can make a bird feeder out of a plastic bottle.” – Grade 1 student

“I want to see if I can make a new toy out of my old toys” – Grade 1 student.

Join us next week if you want to know how much our students love vehicles.
