Announcement: Student Conduct at Rugby Encounters

Dear Parent,

As we approach the second encounter of the Rugby season at Trinity College Kandy, we would like to address an important matter concerning the conduct and behavior of our students during these matches. At Trinity College, we firmly believe that sports encompass valuable qualities such as discipline, teamwork, and respect for opponents and officials. These principles contribute to the holistic development of our students, shaping them into responsible individuals who positively contribute to society. Therefore, we kindly seek your support and cooperation in emphasizing the importance of good behavior and adherence to our cherished values.

Regrettably, we have recently observed instances where certain students have failed to meet the expected standards of behavior during Rugby matches. Such incidents include:

  • Not attending matches in school uniform.
  • Attending matches without a decent haircut or clean shave.
  • Engaging in illicit activities during matches.
  • Carrying items, like fireworks, that may cause harm to spectators.
  • Displaying disrespect towards opposing team members, officials, and spectators.

As educators, it is our duty to promptly address and rectify these issues, ensuring our students comprehend the seriousness of their actions. With immediate effect, we have implemented a stringent disciplinary policy to address misconduct during Rugby matches. If any student is found to be in breach of conduct during a match, they will be promptly escorted off the ground by the School Officers’ Guild or other authorized personnel. Upon their return to the College, appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken, which may include counseling, suspension, or any other actions deemed necessary to uphold discipline and preserve the reputation of the College.

We kindly request that you engage in a conversation with your child, emphasizing the significance of exhibiting good behavior during Rugby matches. Your guidance and support as parents play a vital role in nurturing responsible and respectful individuals.

Our commitment remains steadfast in providing a safe and conducive environment for our students to develop their sporting abilities and character. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your unwavering support in fostering the growth and development of our students.

The Principal
