The much anticipated 6th annual Table Tennis Encounter between Trinity College and S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia unfolded on September 2nd at the Kandy Municipal Council (KMC) indoor gym, delivering an electrifying display of talent and sportsmanship.
The Trinity Table Tennis team, which had exhibited impressive configuration over the past year, achieved a historic milestone by dominating all the age group events for the very first time in history of this prestigious encounter.
Within the under 12 category, Trinity emerged champions with a hard-fought 3-2 win over S. Thomas’ College. The under 15 division perceived both A and B Trinity teams delivering outstanding performances, sweeping S. Thomas’ College aside with a resounding 3-0 victory. As a result, they clinched ‘The Indra De Soysa Shield’ in a spectacular fashion. In the under 20 category, the Trinity team displayed their prowess, defeating St. Thomas’ College 3-1 to secure ‘The Nalanda Ellawala Memorial Trophy.’
Several players made an indelible impression on their enthusiastic spectators.
- In the under 15 category, Yevan Herath Bandara and Danuja Karunarathne unveiled their exceptional skills, contributing significantly to Trinity’s performance.
- In the under 20 division, Akesh Dimantha and Senhiru Deegalle delivered stellar performances, playing a crucial role in Trinity’s success.
Following this latest triumph, Trinity College extended their lead in the overall tally with the score standing at TCK 4 – STC 2.
