Trinity College Kandy is a prestigious private primary & secondary school in Sri Lanka, founded by Anglican missionaries in 1872 and committed to excellence in providing a holistic education, nurturing young minds through academic rigour and overall character development.
The College seeks a dynamic individual with drive and initiative as its Principal.
The appointee will be the Chief Executive of Trinity College, responsible for its smooth and efficient operations and accountable to a Board of Governors, which shall define the strategic direction of the institution.
The primary responsibilities of the Principal include:
- Promoting and facilitating the achievement of the mission of the College as stated by its founders; prioritising the inculcation of a spirit of Christ-like service among the youth of Sri Lanka to become worthy citizens of their country.
- Working with the Board of Governors to develop suitable strategies to meet the educational challenges in the emerging national & global socio-economic environment.
- Developing and implementing academic, sports and other extra-curricular programmes which contribute to a holistic education, to develop youth of character and integrity, whilst consistently maintaining high standards of academic achievement.
- Management and administration of the academic and non-academic staff of the College and its extensive infrastructure.
- Providing leadership for the effective and responsible adoption of appropriate digital technologies to support administration, teaching and learning to meet current and emerging demands.
- Ensuring prudent financial management, including the preparation of and adherence to plans and budgets, under the supervision and guidance of the Board of Governors.
- Maintaining proper channels of communication and liaison with national education authorities and the greater Trinity stakeholder community.
- Providing leadership to the College community to maintain, nurture and develop the “community spirit” of Trinity College in the best interest of the School.
Required minimum criteria for the position
A committed Christian, ideally over 40 years of age, a graduate from a recognised university, 10 years of teaching experience, preferably in a secondary school, and not less than five years of leadership experience.
The ideal candidate shall have some or more of the following attributes and characteristics:
- Post-graduate qualifications and/or certifications related to education.
- Senior-level experience in administration and management.
- Proven leadership qualities and tact to interact with a broad cross-section of stakeholders.
- Experience in the development and delivery of international examination options.
- Proven ability to implement evolving learning systems and methods, using digital/electronic learning tools responsibly and effectively, whilst maintaining strong academic outcomes.
- Familiarity with day/boarding schools, especially those in the English Public School tradition.
Emoluments will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and above current market rates in the profession. The benefits package includes a furnished bungalow and a school-maintained vehicle, with driver.
