Trinity College’s basketball teams have enjoyed a highly successful season, demonstrating outstanding skill, commitment, and determination. Both Junior (U-17) and Senior (U-20) teams excelled, making their mark in provincial and national competitions and reinforcing Trinity Basketball’s reputation as a powerhouse in Basketball
Key Achievements
1) U-20 Central Province Champions
The U-17 and U-20 teams played very well, securing the title of Central Province Champions for the second consecutive year. Trinity’s basketball legacy as the central provinces finest continues to grow. The championship was held at St. Anthony’s Girls College Court from August 8th to 11th.
U-17 Category Highlights:
• Group Stage: Trinity College (TCK) defeated Azhar College 53-28.
• Semi-Finals: TCK overpowered Sylvester College 59-7.
• Finals: TCK narrowly triumphed over Kingswood College 64-61.
Captain: Theesara Galagodawatta (awarded MVP)
Vice-Captain: Kemitha Gunawardana
U-20 Category Highlights:
• Semi-Finals: TCK defeated Colombo International School Kandy 47-24.
• Finals: TCK led Gateway College Kandy 24-2 before rain led to Gateway’s forfeit, securing the title for TCK.

2) Sir Eksith Peiris Memorial Trophy – Annual Encounter against St. Thomas’ College
After a 7-year wait, Trinity clinched a significant victory over St. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, reclaiming the Sir Eksith Peiris Memorial Trophy.
3) U-20 National School Games
The U-20 team delivered an impressive performance at the National School Games, achieving third place—Trinity’s highest finish in 29 years
Match Highlights:
• Pre-Quarterfinals: TCK defeated Mahanaga College, Kegalle (56-12)
• Quarterfinals: TCK overcame Mahinda College, Galle (40-30)
• Semi-Finals: TCK narrowly lost to St. Joseph’s College (36-52)
• Consolation Finals: TCK secured third place with a 64-56 victory over Royal College
This accomplishment positions our basketball team as one of the finest teams in the country.
We thank the Head Coach Mr. Susil Udukumbura, Master-in-Charge Mr. Dulanjaya Abeywickrama, as well as the parents of the players, whose support has been instrumental to the teams’ success.
