Trinity College Art Circle Welcomes New Leadership at Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Trinity College Art Circle was held on 6 February 2026 at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Auditorium, with enthusiastic participation of students from Grade 6 upwards.

The event began with a welcome address by the outgoing Secretary, Master Menath Kahapola. This was followed by the outgoing President, Master Minidu Nawarathne, who presented a detailed report on the club’s activities and achievements during 2025, reflecting on the range of events and creative projects undertaken by the Art Circle.

The Teacher-in-Charge of the club, Mr Saman Ratnayake, then addressed the gathering, sharing thoughtful insights and outlining plans to further nurture creativity within the student community. Following this, the outgoing committee formally concluded its term, and proceedings were handed over to the acting chair, past President Master Nilanga Meegahakumbura (2024). He extended his good wishes to the newly elected committee and encouraged members to make the most of the opportunities ahead.

The election of the new committee followed, with junior members of the club casting their votes. The results were unanimous:

President: Master Sawin Danthasinghe
Secretary: Master Thilina Amarasinghe
Treasurer: Master Oneth Croos
Media Coordinator: Master Moksha Waranidu
Vice President: Master Hiranya Udurawana
Asst. Secretary: Master Senara Fernando
Event Coordinator: Master Thimal Ranasinghe

After the elections, the acting chair formally handed over proceedings to the newly elected committee. In his address as President, Master Sawin Danthasinghe expressed sincere appreciation to the outgoing committee for their commitment and service. He also acknowledged the guidance and continued support of Mr Saman Ratnayake, Teacher-in-Charge, Mr Wasana Dissanayake, Director of TCCEI, and Mr Kanishka Samarasundara, Coordinator of the Trinity College Arts for Life Aesthetic Forum.

He then shared the vision for 2026, noting that while the Art Circle may not always have drawn large numbers in the past, the year ahead represents a fresh beginning for the club.

“Our aim this year is to bring everyone together, not only art students, but anyone who wishes to explore their creativity. Our motto, ‘Inspire your inner artist,’ reflects our belief that regardless of experience or background, there is a place in the Art Circle to create, share, and grow.”

This message resonated strongly with those present, generating enthusiasm for the year ahead. The AGM concluded with a vote of thanks to all members for their presence and support, followed by the official closing remarks by the Teacher-in-Charge, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Trinity College Art Circle.

With renewed energy, a clear vision, and the shared passion of its members, the Art Circle looks forward to encouraging creativity and artistic expression across the school throughout 2026 and beyond.
