Rugby – Trinity vs Isipathana College Colombo, 10th March 2019 – Reviewed

Trinity College faced the ‘Green Machine’ Isipathana College in their second match of the season on the 10th of March at the Trinity Rugby Grounds in Pallekele. Both teams were coming off big wins and had only one intention in this game, to win again.

Isipathana started the match with a long kick into Trinity territory. Isipathana kept the pressure on Trinity, as they managed to create a gap through a well-timed inside pass to the wing-three quarter. Isipathana missed what was an easy conversion, and the score line read 5-0 in favour of the visitors.

A few minutes later Isipathana struck again when they passed the ball out wide to score their second try. The kick went astray and Isipathana led 10-0.

Isipathana got over the whitewash again, as they intercepted a pass to score their third try of the game. This time they made no mistake with the kick. Isipathana increased their lead 17-0.

Trinity replied shortly after wing Geeshapa Kulathunge made a 40m run to score the Lions first points of the match. Trinity missed the much needed 2 points.

Isipathana started the scoring in the second half too as they went over for their 4th try, after making a massive 90m run. They made no mistake with the conversion as the Green Machine led 24-5.

Few minutes later skipper Reshan Bandaranayake went through a gap behind a breakdown to score Trinity’s second try. The kick went astray, and Isipathana led 24-10.
