The Ministry of Education, under the directions of The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has made arrangements to provide a school to the child from Kuliyapitiya who had been deprived of a school and recently highlighted in the media.
Under the prevailing circumstances several schools had expressed their willingness to accept the child and the Trinity College, Kandy also had informed to the ministry of education their willingness to accept the child to their school and provide uniforms, books, sports equipment and a financial support for his education. Considering this request the ministry of education granted approval officially today to admit the child to Trinity College, Kandy.
An agreement regarding this was signed in the morning today (09) by The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and on behalf of the Trinity College, Kandy the Principal Andrew Foler Watt.
Accordingly, The Trinity College will take necessary further actions to do the admission with the consent of the child and his mother.
In addition to this, the government and the ministry of education are due to take actions for the welfare of both the child and the mother.
Several people including The Bishop of Colombo Dilow Kanagasabe, The secretary of the Ministry of Education Mr. W.M. Bandusena, Additional Secretary Hemantha Premathilaka and The Director of Health and Nutrition Branch of the Ministry of Education Ms. Renuka Pieris participated in today’s event at the ministry.
