We came across a very wonderful feature garden built by one of our maintenance staff, Mr Prabath Kumara. Serving Trinity for seventeen years, Prabath is fondly known among the Upper School boys and staff as “Sudda“.
The garden is located near the place where Gaster and the Fraser blocks join. Recently a new staircase was built making an opening to the Fraser block at this point.
We were told Mr Krishanthan Antonydas (Upper School Headmaster) had asked Prabath to do something creative at the bottom area of the new staircase, and Prabath had the freedom to come up with his own ideas for it. Working on his own, it was created throughout this year’s April vacation.
The garden is made with recycled materials he found in the school premises. He used stones to make animals such as birds and turtles, and a small plastic doll found in the rubbish was painted to look like a statue.
Now, many Upper School students help him to maintain this little oasis.
