An orientation programme for the Interact committee members and their parents

The Interact Club met with the parents of its members, along with few Rotarians,  on 29th October 2019 at the Lakshman Kadirgamar auditorium for a brief meeting to discuss the many aspects of the club and its functions. The meeting was held to extend guidance and support to the new committee on their duties and responsibilities.

Sessions of the meeting

Two sessions were held. The first was for the committee and their parents. An introduction on Rotary and Interact was given by Rtn Paul Harris fellow Dr Vijekumar. The duties and the responsibilities of each and every committee member were also explained by Dr Vijekumar.

The second session was for all the Interactors and their parents. The welcome address was done by Master Yadesh Mohandas, the assistant Secretary of the club. During this session, ideas for some important projects such as green life and social service were given by Dr Vijekumar.

Rtn Paul Harris fellow Mrs Awanti Karunaratne, the youth service director, explained the importance and the benefits of being an Interactor. She also explained the duties of an Interactor as a future leader who can make major impact in society. Soon after the speech a video clip was presented by Master Akmal Fareekdeen (Vice President of the club) on projects completed in the recent past.

42nd Interact Installation ceremony

In order to make the 42nd Installation ceremony successful, many discussions took place to educate the parents about the occassion.

The budget and the work load was briefly explained by Mrs Ratnayake, Staff Advisor, while many project recommendations such as providing drinking water for rural schools, providing artificial limbs, etc. were also proposed. A Q and A session, which was an interesting part of the meeting, took place afterwards.

The parents were willing to contribute financially for the 42nd installation ceremony and to help in many other aspects.

Being one of the first clubs to arrange a formal meeting with the parents of its members, the Interact Club took the opportunity to discover more ideas for its future projects working closely with the parents.

The entire session was very valuable for the Interactors. We would like to thank our parents and the Rotarians for being present at this meeting and providing us the chance to discuss and gain more knowledge about our responsibilities.
