On the 21st of October 2022, the Social Service Union of Trinity College extended their helping hand to support the students of Thakshila Maha Vidyalaya, a school in Kandy.
Thakshila Maha Vidyalaya is a remote school with 50 students and 19 teachers where majority of the students are from unstable backgrounds and some of them are finding it hard to have decent meals due to the ongoing financial crisis in the country.
Many students from the Upper School and teachers generously contributed to this worthy endeavor “A Drop of deliverance to the Ocean of suffering”, a project implemented to donate this needly school 55 packets of rice, 10 kg of chickpeas and other eatables, and a few stationery items.
We thank all the donors and the teachers of the social service union led by Mrs. Dharshani Abeykoon, and the class teachers for collecting the donations from our fellow Trinitians. We also thank the teachers of Thakshila Maha Vidyalaya for giving us the opportunity to serve our fellow Srilankans in need.
