A team from Trinity College, Kandy secured the Junior Champions title in the Coding Contest Junior category at SLIIT CodeFest 2024. The grand finale took place on 25 January 2025 at the SLIIT campus in Malabe. The competition is one of the island’s most prominent coding contests, attracting participants from schools and universities across the country.
The team, ‘Trinity Syntax’, comprised Master Nahidh Naseem (Team Leader), Master Shahrukh Fairooz, and Master Disalana Jayasooriya. Together, they developed ‘StudyGuide’, a Learning Management System designed to improve how students learn and interact with educational content. StudyGuide features interactive lessons, real-time progress tracking, and tools encouraging collaboration, aiming to make learning more effective and accessible.
The competition tested participants’ problem-solving, software development, and innovation skills. Despite strong competition in the school category, the Trinity team distinguished themselves with a polished, user-friendly platform.
Winning the title reflects the team’s hard work and creativity in developing StudyGuide. The experience provided valuable insights through mentorship and exposure to Sri Lanka’s technology community.
Reflecting on the journey, Nahidh noted that the experience has inspired the team to continue building solutions that make a positive impact, particularly in education. It is hoped that this success motivates other students at the College to pursue coding, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
