On 1st October 2025, Trinity College, Kandy celebrated Children’s Day with a lively and joyful programme for Middle and Upper School students, bringing together students and staff in a warm spirit of community. Thoughtfully organised and warmly received, the event offered a blend of educational, recreational, and cultural experiences for all to enjoy.
Clubs and societies within the College hosted a variety of creative and interactive stalls.
The Trinity College Social Service Union (SSU), Trinity College Literary Association (TCLA), Ornithology Club, Students’ Christian Movement and Culinary & Hospitality Club each contributed to the lively atmosphere. The Culinary & Hospitality Club, in particular, drew large crowds with six or seven stalls in the main lobby offering baked goods and other treats that proved especially popular.
A tap rugby tournament added a sporting edge to the day, with 15 teams competing in a pool elimination format. Educational and recreational sessions organised by the SSU and the TCLA stood out as another highlight. Students participated in spirited debates and a quiz modelled after “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, with prizes awarded to the top performers. These sessions encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and healthy competition.
A particularly memorable moment came with a musical performance by the teachers, dedicated to the students. Blending music, drama, and creativity it entertained and uplifted the audience, capturing the inclusive and supportive spirit of the College.
While these programmes were focused on the Middle and Upper School, the Junior School also marked Children’s Day with a separate celebration tailored to its students.
Children’s Day 2025 offered a joyful and enriching experience for both students and staff. Through club activities, sport, educational challenges, and the musical performance, the event highlighted Trinity’s focus on community, creativity, and holistic development. It was a day that strengthened bonds and left lasting memories across the College community.
