The Middle School Science Exhibition which was held on the 13th and 14th of October 2022 paved the way for the young scientists of Grade 6,7,8 and 9 to showcase their eye-catching exhibits. These marvelous projects and exhibits were viewed by the Principal Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara OSB along with the Co- Vice Principal, Mr. Marasinghe and the Head-mistress, Mrs. Krishni George. Among as many as 50 inventive and creative projects, the obstacle sensing cars, remote control cars and planes, models of wind power stations, hydro power stations, solar stations, the laser burglar alarm and the thermal solution stood out. A very interesting and educating demonstration and fun facts about cockroaches with live specimens also was a highlight of this event. The enthusiasm and excitement shown by the students from Grade 6 to 9 when they were given a chance to visit the exhibition and educate themselves showed how successful this event was. We thank all the students who worked really hard to make this event a success and the Middle School Science Faculty which organized this event under the guidance of Faculty head of Science Mrs. Nimesha Wimalasena. Across its proud and now 150-year old history, Trinity college Kandy has had many successful Children’s days down the memory lane, Without any qualms – 2022 was a huge success. It all started with a special assembly in the main hall, with several aesthetic performances by our award-winning choristers and the eastern music orchestra. The Carnatic music instrument players and Dancers also had unprecedented success, it will be dishonourable not to mention the absolutely stellar songs that were sung by the teachers, where the ovation was ear-splitting. After returning to our classes, it was time for the organizing committees which were appointed by our teachers earlier to show their colours, unearthing some talent with the talent shows they had organized and giving us unmatched fun with the vibrant songs and games. Even during these tough times everyone contributed with food and treats as they can, it was a fine example of how much We care about each other. School officers should receive an amount of credit for their efforts toward making the Middle school children happy, they worked extremely hard to make the rugby tournament a sparkling success. During the matches all the spectators were involved in the matches as they were chanting for the glory of their friends. The most exhilarating event however was a very well-organized musical show by our teachers, some songs made us very emotional, songs which were about our family members and our teachers, However the show didn’t stop there. More modern and “Pop songs” were definitely performances which we couldn’t enjoy while being seated. In its sesquicentennial year for this prestigious school, Trinity college Kandy lived to its reputation by hosting a fun and entertaining children’s day. The Inter House Rugby Tournament for the Junior Categories was held on the 2nd of April 2022 at the Trinity College Rugby Ground in Pallekele. These matches helped the coaches scout for upcoming young talents among the 300 students who took part in the tournament. The tournament was held under three age categories, namely, Under 12 Under 14 Under 16 The matches commenced in the morning with the boys showing great enthusiasm and talent on the field. Each game was critical for all houses, as a win would put them above the rest on the points table and give them a higher chance of winning the tournament. But with the afternoon approaching, the sky above the Pallekele stadium turned dark and gloomy. Soon there was a downpour; and the officials decided to cancel a couple of matches and awarded the winners based on the points gained by the houses at the time the tournament was called off. The winners of the tournament were as follows: Under 12- Pilcher House Under 14 – Sahayam House Under 16 – Central Boarding House Review by Abidh Jameel

Hope and pray that this message finds you well. As we conclude the 1st term of 2022, theT150 Sesquicentennial Anniversary Year of this great ‘seat of learning’ I thought of updating you of our efforts. Whilst, as a nation we are faced with unprecedented socio-economic challenges, we continue our journey, exploring vistas of excellence. As of now, we have initiated all our curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricularactivities. We will be reviewing the closing time of College periodically and mostprobably we will revert to 7:30 a.m. – 2:20 p.m. by the beginning to the 2nd term. Kindlyawait the final decision on this matter. One of the primary reasons to write this message, is the staggering amount of school feearrears, which has hampered most of our T150 efforts. These challenges have forced usto take stern action to recover the school fees. Hence, students with school fee arrears are: Not permitted in the classroom with immediate effect. Not permitted at term examinations. Not allowed register for public examinations from College. Not allowed to represent Trinity College at Sports Will not be eligible to obtain leaving or character certificates. Please note that, given the current predicament we are facing, we will be compelled tohand over the school fee arrears recovery efforts to the debt consultants and / or seekredress from the Mediation Board (සමථ මණ්ඩලය). As mentioned in my communication on the 10th of December 2021, we have increased theschool fee by 10% effective from 1st term 2022 [added to the 2nd term bill] as per the PublicAdministration Circular. The fee increase is to compensate the cost escalation related tothe above salary revision. The entitlement for the rebate will be applied for those whomade the full payment on or before 20th January 2022 and the revised rebate will beadjusted retrospectively. I request all parents to respect this commitment of timelypayment of school fees including the subsequent increment added for the 1st term. Therebate will be re-calculated accordingly and applied to the 2nd term bill. Revised School Fee Card 2022 Important Announcements: College will formally end the academic activities for the 1st term on Friday, the 8th of April 2022 and the students will return to College for the 2nd term on Tuesday, the 26th of April 2022. Please note that the mandatory requirement of 80% school attendance to register for G.C.E. Advanced Level will be strictly implemented from 2022. We expect all Trinitians to benefit by their regular presence at College and active participation in all activities. Advanced Level classes for O/L 2021 students will begin immediately after the O/L examination. They will be required to face an admission interview prior to the commencement. All fee arrears should be settled prior to registration. Diagnostic [Provincial] Test for Grades 11 (O/L Batch of 2021) started on the 28th March 2022. These students will be on study leave afterwards till the commencement of the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination. The O/L students are requested to settle all fee arrears when they come to collect the admission cards. We have introduced eligibility criteria for all students representing Trinity College in senior sports teams: Mandatory 40% academic average Regular attendance in school and participation in College activities Timely payment of school fees Recommendation of the respective academic heads To be considered for Sports Awards students are expected to participate in the mandatory tournaments stipulated by College. Special permission should be obtained to participate in other tournaments. Even after repeated reminders, still most of the parents are not using the College email for communication. Please note, all official correspondence relating to your child will be done ONLY via the College Email provided to your child. Please check emails regularly. Further, parents are requested to provide updated contact information to the class teacher. In the wake of recent events involving Trinity College parents, I implore all the parents to live by the standards you expect from Trinity. I have already requested the PTA to formulate a Code of Conduct for parents of Trinity, especially when attending public events. As I requested recently at a meeting, there is an urgent need for the parents to rediscover their role as parents. It is time you allow the coaches to coach and the College to manage sports. In the unlikely event of any grievance, you are most welcome to share your thoughts / opinions with the College administration. Please avoid embarrassing your child and his school by giving public expression to your emotions. We are forced to take stern action against such individuals. Let us collectively striver to live by the pristine standards of Trinity College. Wishing you God’s Choicest Blessings, Respice Finem Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara OSBPrincipal 25 March 2022
My Dear Trinitians, Greetings! Pray you are well and safe under the care of your beloved parents. I write to you this brief note on the 01st of October -World Children’s Day to remind you of our commitment to you. As it is amply reflected in the rich history of our alma mater, Trinity is and always will be about the holistic growth of the student. As we are at the threshold of T150, I resonate the collective commitment of the Trinity Family to serve you in your journey towards excellence. What is so unique about being a child? For me, it is simply the only phase of the miracle of life that gives us unstinted freedom to dream about your future. It is an adventure to explore life, together with your family, relations, teachers, and friends. Among the many challenges you encounter, especially in the context of the pandemic, the allurements of “the moment” seem the most destructive. Live beyond the tempting pleasures of the moment and embrace the greater scheme of life. The Bible caution is very relevant for you today – “therefore be as prudent as snakes and as innocent as doves”. We are awaiting eagerly to have all of you back at College. Please do convey our love and appreciation to your parents, for their dedication. Incidentally, today is the first anniversary of my appointment as the Principal. It has been a year filled with many blessings. Please do whisper a prayer for me, that I may steer the destinies of our alma mater “exploring vistas of excellence”. Happy Children’s Day 2021. Respice Finem Fr. Araliya Jayasundara OSB Principal.
