Reflecting Trinity’s commitment to service, compassion and community engagement, the Buddhist Students’ Movement (BSM), in collaboration with the Ryde Intermediate Boarding, carried out a social service initiative at Kosgama Maha Vidyalaya, Madulkelle, on 24 October 2026.
The project aimed to provide meaningful support to the beneficiary school by addressing some of its educational and environmental needs. Through the collective efforts of the Trinity community, students from different sections of the College came together to make a practical contribution.
A key part of the initiative was the preparation of 50 gift packs containing essential stationery items for the students of Kosgama Maha Vidyalaya. The Middle School played an important role in this effort, helping to prepare the packs and providing stationery supplies for the students. These resources will support their day-to-day learning, ease the burden of obtaining essential educational materials and encourage them in their academic pursuits.
The Ryde Intermediate Boarding further supported the project by providing painting equipment to help improve the school’s surroundings. This contribution extended the initiative beyond the distribution of educational materials, addressing the school’s physical environment as well. Together, these efforts provided practical educational assistance while supporting improvements to the school’s facilities.
Beyond the material contributions, the project offered Trinity students an opportunity to look beyond their own community and recognise the needs of others. It demonstrated how collective action, generosity and a shared sense of responsibility can make a meaningful difference in the wider community.
The Buddhist Students’ Movement and the Ryde Intermediate Boarding extend their sincere appreciation to the Middle School, the staff members and everyone who contributed to the success of this initiative. The project reflects the spirit of Trinity, showing how individuals working together with a commitment to serving others can make a positive contribution to the community.
