Two of our swimmers, H.O.C. Hiripitiya and T. K. Karunathilake were awarded Central Province Colours in recognition of their performance. The award ceremony was held on 25th June at the Central Provincial Council Auditorium. This event was attended by Mr Maithri Gunaratna, the Governor of Central Province (and President’s Counsel).
The award ceremony was held in relation to the 44th All Island National sports festival which took place at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex in Colombo last year, where Hiripitiya and Karunathilake placed in their signature swimming events, 1500m freestyle and 200m breaststroke.
Osanda Hiripitya also won College Colours for swimming previously.
We congratulate these two swimmers for this great achievement and we would also like to mention that the overall performance of the Trinity swimming team has been admirably good: They were placed at the National & Junior National Short Course Swimming Championship this year, along with many other achievements in 2018 as well.
