Trinity College emerged victorious after defeating Kingswood College 17 to 12 at the final of the ’10-a-side All Island Schools under 16 Rugby Championship’ at the Trinity College rugby grounds in Pallekelle on 20th August 2017.
Both teams were commended on playing a ‘good’ game of Rugby throughout the cup final as both schools took the match into an extra time. Trinity scored one goal and two tries against one goal and a try by Kingswood College Kandy.
The Player of the Match was awarded to Sehan Sirisoma (Wing, U16 team – TCK) for the excellent tournament he had.
The captain of the Trinity College Under 16 Rugby team, Minidu Jayasundara received the Champion Trophy from the Chief Guest, Bandula Egodabe (Vice President, Corporate Affairs Nestle Lanka PLC.)
The Under 16 Rugby team has been unbeaten throughout the 2017 season, and credit goes to the team players for their dedication, and to the coaches, Thusitha De Silva and Damith Dissanayake, and other staff for their immense commitment and guidance throughout the matches during the season.
