A Festival of Primary Choirs from Kandy
The concert, ‘A Place in the Choir’ was organised by the Trinity College Junior School Choir for the 4th time and was held on 30th September 2017 at the NICD Mahinda Rajapakse Theatre.
The primary school choirs of the following schools, together with Grade 3, 4, and 5 primary Choirs of Trinity College, participated:
- Hillwood College Kandy
- Mahamaya College Kandy
- Gateway College Kandy
- Springfield College Kandy
- Dharmaraja College Kandy
- Kandy Girls’ High School
- Colombo International School Kandy
The Choirs sang many songs individually and combined throughout the concert, and many song choices were extracts from recent films.
The finale saw around 400 boys and girls come on stage to take their “Place in the choir” singing “All God’s creatures got a place in the choir – some sing low and some sing higher” after which the audience too joined them with a “Sing-A-Long” of many familiar and famous songs. It was indeed a memorable concert to all the participants as they sang “I’d like to teach the world to sing” in conclusion.
