The Principal of Trinity College, Kandy and the Old Trinitians Rugby Scrummage have jointly
agreed that Junior Rugby will benefit by having a comprehensive and revised rugby season
for Junior Rugby from May to September 2018 with the under 12 and 14 All Island Rugby
Carnival conducted by SLSRFA in September/October 2018 as the Finale.
The new program will ensure that Junior Rugby will be played more productively and will
ensure the well being of the students allowing them to take part in various other sports, extra
curricular activities and studies throughout the year, of which the Parent Teacher Association
(PTA) endorses positively.
Several leading rugby playing schools have already consented to the said program due to the
positive effects that have been demonstrated in the proposal. A complete list of fixtures will be
published by the end of April 2018.
We regret that due to a miscommunication, the proper facts pertaining to the subject led to
unnecessary consternation and speculation within the greater Trinity community, which was
unfortunate.
Please be assured that Junior Rugby will continue to be an integral part of the ethos of Trinity
College, Kandy and take pride of place within the school.
We thank all those who have expressed their views and the well wishers who have acted in
