This week we bring you a handwork design made by reusing materials. The purpose of this is to give the Grade 1 students an understanding of reusable materials and what can be done with those materials.
The students were guided to make a pencil and pen holder. They were taught through practice how important and practical it is to reuse materials. Grade 1 students created pencils holders that was simple to make and had a nice finish. Various pencil holder designs were made such as owls, rabbits & carrots, cats, tigers and watermelons.
After learning that so much can be done with discarded materials, students talked with their friends about other things that can be used in a similar manner.

“I want to see if I can make a new toy out of my old toys” – Grade 1 student.
