Displaying exceptional eloquence and argumentative skill, Master Ammar Zaffarullah and Master. Thithira Jayakody from the Trinity College Debate team represented Sri Lanka at the prestigious World Schools Debating Championship 2024.
The Sri Lankan team performed commendably in this competitive international event held in Belgrade, Serbia. They achieved victories against South Korea, Pakistan, Kenya, and Taiwan, while experiencing losses to Greece, Canada, and Australia.
Master Thithira Jayakody, the former captain of Trinity College Kandy excelled in his role, contributing significantly to the team with exceptional commitment and driven, securing the position of the 4th ESL best speaker and 20th internationally.
Master Ammar Zaffarullah, a talented and dedicated member of the Sri Lankan team, delivered an outstanding performance, earning the distinction of the 20th best ESL speaker among a pool of qualified participants from around the world.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to both debaters for their exemplary performances, which have brought pride to their alma mater and to Sri Lanka. We also wish them continued success in their future endeavors. Additionally, we recognize the invaluable support of Mrs. Fathima Majeed, the Teacher-in-Charge of Trinity Debating, the coach Mr. Suchith Tissera and former coaches Mr. Lithmal Jayawardane and Miss.
