An appreciation is, how an appreciative commends the appreciator. Yet a young club, the Ornithology Club of TCK has gained popularity since its revival.
The committee of 2025 arranged to present a token of appreciation to honour the invaluable contributions made by members of its past committees.
The souvenir lovingly designed, eco-friendly and handcrafted, was ready to be gifted to all the worthy past committee members who had endeavoured to nurture in young ornithologists, a love for nature and her winged wonders.
The wood for the souvenir was obtained from leftovers from the renovation of the Auditorium highlighting the value of upcycling. This initiative not only saved money on timber but also brought an awareness of protecting nature. The art displayed on the token was not engraved but hand-drawn by our fellow brothers: (W.L.S.M.Welendagoda, R.R.Kumarasiri, R.N.Ranasinghe), under the guidance of our art teacher, Mr. Rathnayake.
The new committee members were proud of their quick thinking and team spirit when the original sticker turned larger that the designed measurement. Within 30 minutes, new stickers were neatly fixed onto the wooden face of the souvenir with names duly placed. How the team collectively planned to rectify the mistake demonstrated their ability to remain composed under pressure.
In the end, the gesture of appreciation was more than just a simple token—it was a testament to the dedication, creativity, and resilience that binds the Ornithology Club together. It reminded us all that even in the face of challenges, the spirit of collaboration and a shared vision can overcome any obstacle.
As we honoured the past, we also laid a foundation for the future, where the legacy of the club continues to soar, nurtured by the hands and hearts of those who believe in its mission. The committee of 2025 not only demonstrated their ability to carry the torch forward, but also solidified their place in the club, proving that with unity and determination, no challenge is too great to overcome.
