Kanboree is an annual event designed to enhance the skills and qualities of Scouts in Kandy. The 16th Kanboree took place from December 26th to 29th, 2024, at the Peradeniya National College of Education. Thirty-two Senior Scouts from the 17th Kandy Trinity College Scout Troop participated, alongside approximately 1,500 Scouts in total. Organized by the Sri Lanka Scout Association, Kandy District Scout Branch, this event featured various activities that helped Scouts hone their survival skills.
On the first day of the camp, the campgrounds were bustling with excitement as everyone set up their campsites for the days ahead. After the opening ceremony, the Scouts showcased their practical skills by building gadgets for their daily needs.
The second day, December 27th, was Activity Day. The various activities, ranging from vertical rope climbing to fire extinguishing, helped us develop our skills, talents, and knowledge. That night, the Scouts enjoyed a lively DJ Show, organized by the Kandy District Scout Branch, which added to the excitement.
The third day featured a session on the Youth Program, which outlined the path to achieving the prestigious President’s Scout Award. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., we participated in a campfire program where Scouts showcased their talents through plays, and our troop was fortunate to perform our own play. Later that night, the first-ever night hike in Kanboree history took place. This debut event allowed Scouts to team up with Scouts from other schools and work cooperatively to complete five sets of activities, each designed to enhance a different skill. This memorable experience will stay with us for a long time.
On the final day, Scouts exchanged signatures and souvenirs, creating lasting memories of the event. After the closing ceremony, everyone worked together to clean the campgrounds before departing, taking with them new friendships and unforgettable experiences.
The 17th Kandy Trinity College Scout Troop is proud to have been the only troop to secure first place in morning inspections on both days. We were also honored to win the award for the Best Photograph in the Troop Category during the Photography Competition organized by Kandy Scout Media.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Kandy District Scout Branch for organizing this successful event, as well as to our Scout Master, Master-in-charge, Troop Leader, and all the other leaders and volunteers for their dedication and hard work in providing us with this exceptional opportunity.
