On 13 July 2025, the Trinity College Social Service Union (SSU) proudly carried out a meaningful painting and donation project at Dambawela Primary School. The day began as our members gathered at school, filled with enthusiasm and a clear sense of purpose.
Transport provided by the school took the team to the site, while painting materials, including ladders and tins of paint were transported separately by a lorry generously arranged by one of our members. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the principal and staff of Dambawela School.
Before beginning the painting, the team prepared and distributed 33 stationery packs, each accompanied by a small snack, to the students of the school, an act that brought joy and usefulness beyond the visual changes that were to follow.
The painting commenced after a collective clean-up of the school premises. Every student played a part, from sweeping floors to painting walls, fostering a strong sense of teamwork and shared purpose. With breaks for refreshments and lunch, the team worked diligently throughout the day, completing the transformation of the school building.
By the end of the project, we returned to Trinity with tired hands and full hearts. This initiative went far beyond painting walls – it reflected the spirit of teamwork, compassion, and the power of young people to make a difference. A truly rewarding day, it will remain a cherished memory for all who were involved.
