The Carnatic Music Society of Trinity College, Kandy, proudly marked a new chapter in its journey with the successful launch of its first workshop for the year. Rooted in the rich tradition of South Indian classical music, the Society strives to preserve and promote one of the oldest and most profound musical art forms known to humanity.
As part of its mission to inspire the younger generation, the Society organised a Carnatic Music Workshop exclusively for the students of the Junior School. The event took place on the 3rd of July, beginning with a brief orientation session held at the Junior School premises. Soon after, the young Trinitians were welcomed to the Carnatic Music Room, where they were given the opportunity to engage, explore, and express their budding musical talents.
The workshop featured three core segments: Vocal Training, Instrumental Demonstrations, and Interactive Practical Sessions. Each component was designed to introduce students to the foundational aspects of Carnatic music in an enjoyable and engaging manner. The response was overwhelming, students participated enthusiastically, sparking a genuine interest and curiosity in this timeless art form.
The Carnatic Music Society extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who made this initiative possible. Special thanks go to Mrs. Chamali De Tissera, Sectional Head of the Junior School; Mr. Wasana Dissanayake, Director of TCCEI; the Junior School staff, and everyone else who supported and contributed to the success of this meaningful event. As we move forward, the Trinity College Carnatic Music Society remains committed to its mission in nurturing young talent, preserving tradition, and passing down the beauty of Carnatic music to the next generation. :
