A team from the Trinity College Technopreneurship Club — Master Chaniru Senhas, Master Rehan Anandakumar, and Master Chirath Jayasinghe — achieved an impressive second-place finish at Sandbox, the second edition of Sri Lanka’s largest inter-school pitching competition. The event was organised by the Entrepreneurship Club of APIIT, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
The preliminary rounds took place on 25th September at the APIIT Law School in Colombo, attracting participation from over 50 schools. Following an intense round of live pitching, 33 finalists were selected to progress to the final stage.
The final round was held at the BMICH on 9th October, where the Trinity team presented their business concept before a panel of respected entrepreneurs, CEOs, and industry professionals. The judging focused not only on innovation but also on clarity, viability, and each team’s ability to think and respond under pressure.
Placing second in a national competition of this scale is a notable accomplishment. The students demonstrated clear thinking, strong collaboration, and the confidence to present their concept with professionalism. All participating teams also benefited from mentorship sessions conducted by startup founders and industry experts, which offered valuable insights into entrepreneurship and helped shape their final presentations.
The College extends its sincere thanks to Mr Chathura Subhawickrama, Master-in-Charge of the Trinity College Technopreneurship Club, for his guidance and support throughout the competition. Appreciation is also extended to Mr Wasana Dissanayake, Coordinator of the Trinity College Co-Curricular Engagement Initiative (TCCEI), for his continued efforts in promoting student enterprise at Trinity.
The college also thanks the Entrepreneurship Club of APIIT for organising this national platform and providing school students with an invaluable opportunity to explore real-world innovation.
