Trinity College Kandy Board of Governors
Very Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara (Prior OSB), Principal of Trinity since 2020, has been elected the Conventual Prior of the Priory of St. Sylvester at the recent Conventual Chapter of the Sylvestro-Benedictine Congregation of Sri Lanka, held from 1st– 5th December 2025.
The Trinity Community takes pride and joy at the election of Fr Araliya as the Conventual Prior of this sacred congregation and congratulate him on this election.
It is to our grave regret however, that Fr Araliya has in these circumstances, informed the Board that he will be relinquishing his duties as Principal of Trinity. In doing so, he has conveyed to the Board in faith, that his election as the Conventual Prior, represents a significant calling within his religious vocation and the position requires full dedication to his monastic community and its spiritual mission.
His decision was accepted by the Board of Governors with unequivocal respect and understanding for his vocational priority.
Notwithstanding his new responsibilities, Fr Araliya has graciously assured the Board of his absolute commitment to ensure a smooth transition of the administration to a new Principal.
With the Grace of God and Blessings of the entire Trinity Community, we look forward to finalizing the change of stewardship at Trinity by mid-2026. During such time Fr Araliya will continue to lead the administration of Trinity.
