Trinity College International Advanced Level [IAL] students continued to excel at the Edexcel Exams maintaining the momentum their predecessors have set over the past 4 years since the introduction of the unit to the College’s academic portfolio. Trinity IAL students have performed beyond expectations by securing an overall 93% pass rate across an array of 12 subjects offered at the recently concluded Edexcel examinations. Students who have sat for subjects such as Accounting, Biology, English Literature, Economics, French, IT and Psychology have secured a bullseye pass rate at the examination. Commending the performance of his students, Principal, Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara OSB said, “This batch of students were severely affected by the global pandemic. Nevertheless, the pandemic has been a catalyst in the transformation of learning and teaching and how assessments are conducted globally using virtual platforms. Though this was a challenge, it was never an obstacle to us, as at Trinity we always look at ‘expanding vistas of excellence’ and we took it up as an opportunity to prepare the students for a technologically enabled environment in higher education and the global workplace.” Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara OSB Like all other pioneering ventures, Trinity’s International A/Ls was a project initiated with the view of extending educational and career opportunities for students in the global arena. During the last four years, the management of the College has integrated the IAL section of Trinity College with the other array of options available to enhance the creative and intellectual potential of the students. The College has invested considerably on infrastructure and HR development, making Trinity College IALs one of the most sophisticated as well as advanced centers of learning in the Central Province, for students aspiring to achieve their initial global educational qualifications. A jubilant Eranda Rajapathirana, the recently appointed new Head of the International A/L section said, “We at Trinity IALs are always looking at ways and resources to innovate the academic delivery and ensure the section and its student move with the evolving times and technology by providing the palpable teaching and learning solutions. We were apprehensive about this batch of students as they lost more than two thirds of their classroom sessions due to the pandemic. But the results are an endorsement of the commitment and the dedication of the College, teachers, parents, and students to tackle challenges head-on and come out as winners. We cannot be happier.” Eranda Rajapathirana The year-on-year outstanding examination results portray that the International A/Ls of Trinity College has established itself as a leading establishment that promotes global education that nurtures global professionals. With the expansion plans in the pipeline in its Sesquicentennial Anniversary year, she continues to be a cradle for high achievers living up to the vision of their celebration “Duc-in-Altum: exploring vistas of excellence”.
