The Trinity Weightlifters tasted success once again at the All Island Weightlifting Championship 2018 as they retained their title in the Under 20 boys championship. The Meet was held at Agrabodhi College, Kanthale on the 29th ,30th June & 1st of July. The event was graced by many well known dignitaries in the Weightlifting arena.
Trinity College was represented by the following lifters during the course of the three day long meet:

- P.D. Jayasuriya (Vice Captain)
- G.G.K.J. Gamage
- M.L. Mayadunne
- M.R. Mahdi Abdullah
- E.R. Bodhinarayana
- J. Rahul
- K.A.R.K. Karawita
- A.W.U.L. Thilakarathne
- M. Wickramasekara
- Y.B. Rathnayake
- A.M. Jameel
Trinity won 4 gold medals and a bronze medal as they scored the highest number of points in the U20 age category.
The following lifters won gold in the U20 category:
- G.G.K.J. Gamage (77kg Weight Class)
- B.J. Wijewickrama (85kg Weight Class)
- E.R. Bodhinarayana (94kg Weight Class)
- P.D. Jayasuriya (105 kg Weight Class)
M.R. Mahdi Abdullah won a bronze in the 85kg Weight Class in the U20 category.
Bevishan Wijewickrama was adjudged as the ‘Best Lifter’ in the U20 category.
The Trinity Weightlifting team will look to keep adding more trophies to their cabinet under the guidance of Mr. M. Wijerathne (Coach) and Mr. K.B. Galagoda (M.I.C) as they set out to win again their title won last year at the Junior and Senior National Weight Lifting Championship in the Under 17 and 20 age groups.
