Message from Duminda Hulangamuwa (Chairman – A&OC)
Greetings!
On behalf of the A&OC, I would like to thank the Trinity fraternity for their support and generosity towards the Trinity150 Infrastructure Development Project so far. We are delighted to inform donors and well-wishers that all work in Napier House and the Quadrangle is now complete.
Under the renovations done the first floor of Napier has been converted in to a multipurpose area comprising classrooms / labs, meeting areas using temporary / movable partitions for flexibility in usage. The restored ground floor will continue to function as the dining hall / kitchen. The renovation work has stabilised and preserved the building while introducing more light (using skylights) and ventilation where needed.
As stated during the commencement of work, we are hopeful that the work done will preserve the building until the more elaborate boarding house restoration project is undertaken in the future, depending on the success of the rejuvenation of the boarding house culture within the school.
The restoration work in the Quadrangle has resulted in, the relocation of the drainage system which goes underneath the Basketball Court to address chronic subsidence problems affecting the area, inclusion of proper drainage for the surface area, introducing a new layer of Asphalt on the Basketball Court area, finishing the area around the Basketball Court with a washed concrete layer, new tiers introduced on either side of the ground and the existing tiers repaired and resized, new landscape elements like plant troughs, bushes, shrubs introduced where necessary, repairing of the existing stairs and walls, Introducing a system of garden lights to illuminate the area and making provision for a new stadium light system (to be completed in the future by College after assessing the requirements/ practicality).
Special thanks to the TCK batch of 1991 for their donation of Rs.4.7mn and Asphalt (for the playing area) for the Quadrangle project. I take this opportunity to thank our Engineer to the Project – Mr. Vasantha Ratnayake and the Project Architect- Ms. Rangaji Jayasekara for their wonderful support to make the two projects a success in time for the 150th year celebrations.
With the generous support of Old Boys and local / overseas OBAs, the A&OC, which was setup to administer and implement the T150 Infrastructure Project was able to complete Alison House, the Abeyratne – Jeyaraj classroom block, Napier House & dining hall and the Quadrangle. We have now secured the land for the new laboratory and will commence construction no sooner the new plans and drawings are completed. I would like to convey my deep gratitude to the Members of the A&OC and my predecessor Mr. Jayantissa Ratwatte for the unstinted support they gave throughout the Project.
I invite you to view the Video Walkthrough of the two recently completed projects below.
RESPICE FINEM!
Duminda Hulangamuwa – Chairman A&OC
