“The Love for all living creatures is the most notable attribute of Man” – Charles Darwin
On the 27th of December 2024, 20 of the selected members of the Trinity College Wildlife Society embarked on an unforgettable adventure to the Yala National Park, facing the biodiversity and the beauty of the prestigious place.
The team left school at 7.00 a.m. on the 27th of December. Adventures do have their consequences, so we did not face anything interesting until we were nearing Sella-Kataragama, where the bus stopped in front of an elephant covering half of the road.
After lunch, we left to reach the Pahala Henthota Bungalow, where we were booked for the two nights. After we reached the bungalow, we settled down in the bedrooms.
The morning of 28th December was unique because the whole day was meant to be a safari session for us. We were in three jeeps and we saw the forest teeming with wildlife. The cameras were clicking and silence prevailed.
During the day, we noted several sightings of elephants, mammals and birds. The most priceless sighting being the leopard at two different locations.
Our team returned to school around 7 pm on the 29th of December. We thank our parents for granting us permission to go on this tour.
