Ever since two men first ignited a flame with two rocks, Homo-Sapiens have reached milestones in a rapidly developing world. With the dawn of a new era, 21st Century technology continues to grow, and we continue to adapt to technology such as Artificial Intelligence and Mechanical expertise, which just a hundred years ago, would have seemed magical. With the aim of helping its students follow this path and adapt to the present, Trinity College Kandy is proud to celebrate the establishment of the Technopreneurship Club. With ground breaking ideas to foster creativity, innovation, and empowerment of students from Grade 6 and above, the club is enjoying rapid growth. It’s not mere technology within this club but the nurturing of the entrepreneurial spirit that spew the greatest ideas in the world for tremendous effect, thus the name “Technopreneurship” (Technology + Entrepreneurship). By introducing technology and focusing on business acumen, the Technopreneurship Club will prepare young Trinitians for a future with tools, confidence, and a mindset that matches their character.
Picture an idea that could revolutionize the globe; the Technopreneurship Club will guide students through the exciting path from concept to creation, providing a culture in which innovation greets opportunity. Working to make certain that its members’ feet are firmly planted, the Technopreneurship Club puts them in a dynamic atmosphere where exploratory avenues of great efforts can be marvelled at, shared, or worked upon.
Objectives of the Technopreneurship Club
The Technopreneurship Club is guided by a clear and ambitious vision. Its primary objectives include:
- Inspiring students to think creatively and develop solutions to everyday challenges.
- Providing training in coding, app development, prototyping, and entrepreneurial essentials like marketing and pitching.
- Empowering students to transform concepts into impactful products or services.
- Building teamwork, leadership, and communication skills through engaging and collaborative activities.
Activities and Focus Areas
Members of the Technopreneurship Club can look forward to a wide range of exciting activities and focus areas, that include:
- Transforming ideas into tangible solutions through practical, step-by-step guidance.
- Exploring cutting-edge topics such as coding, app development, robotics, and 3D printing through field visits and workshops
- Learning marketing strategies, branding techniques, and ways to connect with target audiences effectively, via participation in various competitions.
- Participating in sessions designed to sharpen presentation skills, preparing members to pitch projects to investors, mentors, or larger audiences.
- Collaborating on innovative projects that combine creativity, technology, and entrepreneurial thinking to address real-world challenges.
The invaluable support given by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara OSB, alongside Mr. Wasana Dissanayake’s priceless guidance launched and moulded the roots of Technopreneurship Club for a successful take off.
The Technopreneurship club is more than a club, it is a journey of discovery, innovation, and team spirit- which in itself will carry students out of their closeted environment. By themselves, members will master the art of pitching meant for diverse audiences.
