The Science Society of Trinity College Kandy, organised Invicta’25: Science Day, to boost the talents of young Trinitians in the fields of Biology, Technology, Innovation and Automobile Engineering. The Ornithology Club of the College, contributed to this event with various stalls exhibiting the marvels of avians.
Titled “Nest & Nibbles”, the stalls consisted of spectacular arrangements of bird feathers collected by the members of the club. Attendees marvelled at the spectacular colour combinations in the feathers of Parakeets, Peacocks, Kingfishers and several other species. Additionally, there were preserved specimens of ducks and a few other birds, shells of hatched eggs: hatched under the supervision of the students of the A/L Biology stream. The attendees enjoyed a collection of photographs of several species of birds, captured with the third eye during school excursions, by a member of the Club.
Moreover, the stall buzzed with excitement as attendees admired hand-painted illustrations of birds, done by yet another member of the society. A collection of books on various topics related to birds was displayed during the exhibition. Furthermore, members had an incubator with eggs for everyone to observe.
A unique feature of the ornithologists’ participation of this event was, the photo booth which printed out photos of enthusiastic attendees. The photos were complete with hand-painted wings to make this event memorable for everyone. Linked to this novel feature, was a fun activity; a Loop-Wired game which allowed a free photograph for the winners.
Young Ornithologists further implemented a dart game which enabled winners to have prizes in the form of popcorn, falooda, and many delicacies. Lastly, a hologram was designed by one of the club members to enhance the uniqueness and excitement of the exhibition.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who organised a memorable Science Day 2025.
