RENOVATIO ’26 – A Journey of Faith, Knowledge and Witness

Faith found expression in many forms during RENOVATIO ’26, as Trinitians preached, created, reflected and tested their knowledge of Scripture through a series of engaging events organised by the Student Christian Movement (SCM). Held on 2, 3 and 6 July 2026, the initiative encouraged boys from across the College to deepen their relationship with Christ while discovering and developing their God-given talents.

The opening day featured the Sermon Competition, conducted in Junior (Grades 6 to 9) and Senior (Grades 10 to 13) categories in partnership with the YMCA. Through their presentations, contestants demonstrated confidence in sharing God’s Word while strengthening their biblical understanding and public speaking abilities. Alongside this, the Art Competition, organised with the Trinity College Art Circle, and the Creative Writing Competition offered meaningful opportunities for students to communicate their faith through artistic and literary expression.

Activity continued on 3 July with the Poster Competition and the eagerly awaited Bible Quiz, where Middle School and Upper School teams competed in a league format. The return of this long-standing SCM tradition was warmly welcomed, with teams displaying a sound knowledge of Scripture, thoughtful analysis and strong teamwork throughout the contest.

RENOVATIO concluded on 6 July with the Oratory and Essay Writing Competitions. These events challenged participants to articulate Christian values with conviction while reflecting on the relevance of faith in everyday life.

Although organised by the SCM, several events welcomed participation from the wider student body, allowing more Trinitians to engage in Christian learning, fellowship and creative expression. This broader involvement strengthened the spirit of the initiative and encouraged meaningful interaction across different sections of the College.

The success of RENOVATIO ’26 reflected the dedication of the SCM student committee, teachers and volunteers whose commitment ensured the smooth conduct of every event. The SCM extends its sincere gratitude to the Principal, Vice Principal, Co-Vice Principal, Chaplain and Mr Wasana Dissanayake for their continued encouragement and support. Appreciation is also extended to Mr Lalantha Jayasinghe, Ms Dilmi Nimnavi and Ms B. Christina for their invaluable assistance.

The SCM also expresses its sincere thanks to the panel of judges, Rev. Sanath Madagamgoda, Rev. Rukmal Fernando, Rev. Dishan Alexander, Ruvini Katugaha, Rev. Emmanuel Jayakrishna, Rev. Paulina Evarts, Br. Pavan Fernando, Br. Malik Daniels, Pastor Lamindra, Mr George, Mr Mark, Mr Kalum Darshana Meniksinghe and Ms Dilrukshi Maduka Senasinghe, for generously sharing their time, experience and expertise.

Gratitude is further extended to the YMCA for partnering in the Sermon Competition, the Trinity College Art Circle for its collaboration in the Art Competition, and every teacher, volunteer, participant and member of the media team whose contributions helped make the programme a success.

More than a series of events, RENOVATIO ’26 reflected the SCM’s commitment to nurturing faith, character and Christian witness among Trinitians. The enthusiasm shown throughout the programme, the friendships strengthened and the deeper appreciation of God’s Word served as a reminder that faith grows through learning, fellowship and service. The Student Christian Movement looks forward to building on this tradition in the years ahead, encouraging future generations of Trinitians to continue growing in wisdom, character and faith.
