The Sri Lankan Youth, Junior and Senior Novices Weightlifting Championships were held at Christ Church College, Matale, from 17 to 19 July 2026. Competing against lifters from across the country, the Trinity College Weightlifting team delivered a commendable performance, emerging as the Junior Novices Champions while also finishing as Runners-up in the Youth category.
In the Youth category, the following Trinitians secured podium finishes:
Kavirshnu Vijaykumar, 1st place, 65 kg category
Banuka Subasinghe, 1st place, 75 kg category
Vidupa Rajanayake, 2nd place, 65 kg category
Kumath Epa, 2nd place, 95+ kg category
Dhiren de Seram, 3rd place, 60 kg category
These performances helped Trinity College secure the Runners-up Trophy in the Youth age category.
The College also enjoyed an outstanding campaign in the Junior category, with the following lifters achieving podium finishes:
Sithnuka Rathnayake, 1st place, 70 kg category
Heshan Kumarawanse, 1st place, 75 kg category
Ravishka Dissanayake, 1st place, 110+ kg category
Ronal Weerasekara, 3rd place, 60 kg category
Nethula Hettihewage, 3rd place, 95 kg category
These results earned Trinity College the Junior Novices Championship title, reflecting the commitment and consistent effort of the College’s weightlifting programme.
